Psychosexual Health & Fertility Counselling

Navigating fertility investigations and planned conception can introduce significant emotional and physical pressure into a couple’s intimate life. Scheduled intercourse, diagnostic timelines, and performance anxiety can sometimes lead to situational sexual difficulties for either partner.

Common Psychosexual Concerns During Conception

  • Situational Erectile Dysfunction: The pressure to perform according to strict mid-cycle or ovulatory timing can cause temporary performance anxiety, difficulty maintaining an erection, or distress when providing semen samples for diagnostic evaluation.
  • Painful Intercourse (Dyspareunia) & Reduced Arousal: Heightened anxiety, emotional stress, and treatment fatigue can reduce sexual desire, diminish natural arousal, and contribute to pelvic discomfort or dyspareunia in women.
  • Post-Coital Semen Leakage (Effluvium Seminis): Concerns regarding semen leakage following intercourse are very common among couples. Most of this fluid is seminal plasma; sperm cells rapidly enter the cervical canal within minutes of ejaculation. Clear clinical explanation helps reassure couples and alleviate unnecessary worry.

Our Approach to Supportive Counselling

Psychosexual evaluation and supportive care are conducted collaboratively by our medical practitioners and qualified counsellors in a confidential, professional environment.

  • Open Communication: We help couples discuss performance pressures, reducing the feelings of guilt, shame, or isolation that often accompany intimacy concerns.
  • Clinical Guidance on Timing: We provide objective, stress-reducing guidance on the fertile window and regular intercourse, focusing on intimacy rather than regimented performance.
  • Medical & Therapeutic Support: Where underlying physiological or hormonal factors contribute to sexual dysfunction, evidence-based medical treatment is offered alongside structured psychosexual counselling.
